Good Morning friends, welcome back. Hopefully all are doing very well.
You must have noticed, I have been unable to publish any new article for the last three days. Well, I guess most of the friends know, unfortunate my Father has been diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer.
Understandably, the news has been extremely disheartening to the family. Being the only son of the family, I am trying to meet all the ends and do all my duties to my parents. My primary goal is to provide Father the best possible treatment and reduce his pain to minimum. Well, successfully, after adding a few some opioid medications, the pain has reduced to a substantial and he was even able to go to his work place yesterday. Thanks to all my friends, who have been extremely supportive to me and thanks for all your prayers, please do continue praying for my dad.
As I have said before, the science of Medicine is a vastly incomplete science where we do not know almost most of it’s secrets. Yes improvements have been made, new drugs have evolved but they have only been able to improve the survival rates marginally. Still there are many cancers in it’s advanced stages , where complete cure is not available. Probably, we will never be able to provide complete cure and decipher the entire puzzle of Cancer.
Probably we the mortals, can only try and do our job to the best of our capabilities, leaving the rest in the hands of the almighty.
Well, the Oncology consultants have said my Father would survive only for may be one year, may be less. But, being a Doctor I believe that is not the prerogative of Doctors to suggest how long a patient can survive, that is to be decided by the Almighty. What a Doctor can suggest, is the prognosis and the seriousness of the situation, and explain the treatment options available to the family members. There are documented cases, patients have survived much longer than that, even up to 10 years.
As i have said before, I will continue to give my best with a positive attitude, to provide Father the best possible treatment and keep his hip pain to the minimum, no matter how strenuous it is physically and financially. Please friends, do continue praying for Father. I am sure prayers will certainly help and add to the efforts.
